SIGN ENCLOSURES

Large Variable Message Signs Designed for the Highways Agency Applications.

Designed using the latest CAD/CAM 2D and 3D system and built to the highest of standards, our enclosures are able to withstand the rigours of all the British weathers.

TEGREL sign enclosures are manufactured from 2mm and 3mm Aluminium, grade 3103, profiled on the latest CNC punch presses. Welded using MIG and TIG systems, structural strength is achieved using a system of extruded and folded sections, fully welded and jointed to bulkheads enabling the signs to meet design criteria of wind speeds at 51 m/s.
 
The front windows areas are gasketed to allow for future replacement, and the internal Character modules are carried on fixed rails or punched legend plates.
Rear doors are hinged using stainless steel, removeable pin hinges. All doors are complete with retaining stays which ensure locking in position at 90 degrees, and polyamide swing handle locks operating a three-point locking system and locked using standard inserts. Double door arrangements are used when restricted access is specified, and using our patented design, allow the double doors to be rated at IP:65 whist giving full access to the sign when open.

Basic ventilation is provided by small filtered inlets, but extract fan and large filtered inlets can be supplied with weatherproof cowls.
The total design is set to achieve an IPX6 rating to BS EN 60529:1992(IEC529).

Mounting points are  structurally welded to the enclosures and adjustable stainless steel brackets provide a connection to the gantry or frame

All nuts, bolts and fixings are manufactured from  stainless steel grade 304 or 316.

External Corrosion Protection is provided by an architectural powder paint finish.

Rear Illuminated Enclosure

Tegrel were the first company to supply the latest in rear illuminated sign technology on the M80 gantries in Scotland. These signs show static messages, but are illuminated with an internal light source.

The signs were up to 8 metres in length and 2 metres in height. The enclosures were designed to be light weight, and to provide a consistent illumination of the sign across the entire face.

Illumination is provided with the use of specially designed LED and optics, keeping the sign depth to 100mm.

In comparison to previous illumination methods, LED technology has enabled power consumption of the sign to be slashed, and with the longevity of the LED’s which will have a life span of at least 5 years, maintenance has also been dramatically reduced, providing a win/win scenario for the local authorities and users.

Car Park Signs

Designed to the latest highway standards, Tegrel produce bespoke car park display enclosures. Based on the same methods and standards employed in the larger motorways signs, the enclosures are manufactured from aluminium. Access to the sign can be either from the front or rear. Mounting arrangement can be provided to allow for single or twin post mounting.

Tegrel can provide the necessary structural calculation to confirm the post dimensions and concrete base details.

The front vinyl’s are 3M high intensity prismatic, although other options are available should these be required.

The front layouts verified from the customers drawings to ensure that they conform to the necessary highways specifications.

The enclosures are constructed to IP X:6 to BS EN 60529:1992(IEC529).
